Introduced in 2012, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a policy that has allowed certain people who came to the United States as children to request temporary protection from removal and, in many cases, work authorization. Protection under DACA is generally granted for a limited period and may be renewed.
DACA does not provide lawful permanent residence or a direct path to citizenship on its own. For many families it has, however, meant the ability to work, study, and build a life with greater security — while longer-term options are explored.

Came to the United States before turning 16.
Have lived in the U.S. continuously over the qualifying period.
